SMILE Pro is the latest advancement in laser eye surgery, offering a faster, more precise, and more comfortable experience than its predecessor, ReLEx SMILE. Utilizing the VisuMax 800 laser, SMILE Pro corrects vision in just 8 seconds per eye, minimizing discomfort and potential complications. This bladeless procedure offers a quicker recovery and potentially better visual outcomes due to its increased precision.
SMILE Pro® delivers clearer vision in just 8 seconds per eye which is dramatically faster than the traditional 25-second ReLEx SMILE procedure.
With advanced laser precision from Carl ZEISS VisuMax 800, it effectively reshapes the cornea, making it an ideal choice even for patients with high prescriptions or astigmatism in certain cases.
The procedure is virtually pain-free, applying minimal pressure for enhanced comfort. Plus, its shorter suction duration and improved accuracy greatly reduce the risk of complications, ensuring your experience is safe, comfortable, and reassuring from start to finish.
Step 1: Creating the Lenticule
Using the latest-generation VisuMax® 800 femtosecond laser, ultra-thin lenticule (a lens-shaped layer of corneal tissue) is created inside the cornea. This is performed without creating a flap, and less invasive than traditional LASIK.
Step 2: Removing the Lenticule
A micro-incision, typically just 2–4 mm, is made on the corneal surface. The surgeon removes the lenticule through this tiny opening—no flap, no stitches, and minimal disruption to the eye's natural structure.
Step 3: Reshaping the Cornea
Once the lenticule is removed, the cornea is reshaped, correcting the refractive error (such as myopia or astigmatism) and improving your natural vision.
* The reason is that wearing contacts lenses, for a long time, could change the curvature of the cornea, therefore the refraction have changed as well. Not wearing contact lens, for a while, will cause the shape and the curvature of eye to revert back to its natural shape, enabling us to get more precise data of the cornea.
